Since 1979, I have been an avid radio listener and made hundreds of AM, FM, and shortwave recordings. I made most of these recordings at my home in Philadelphia or while traveling. I enjoyed DXing (long-distance radio listening) and making airchecks (off-air recordings) throughout high school and through the 1990s. These were the days before the internet when it was thrilling to pull in far away radio stations. Shortwave radio was my passport around the world. Here are some of my airchecks on YouTube:
