There were a dozen Franklin’s Family Restaurants from 1976 to 1990, most of them in northeast Pennsylvania. Marvin Franklin first became a restaurateur in 1966 when he opened Elby’s Big Boy in Edwardsville. Franklin’s was a significant employer in the area and had quality food. Its Big Ben hamburger and strawberry pie were popular favorites. Friendly’s purchased Franklin’s in 1986. Today, very few remember Franklin’s. I worked at Franklin’s Family Restaurant from October 1982 to January 1988 while in college.
On this webpage you will learn the history and share the memories of Franklin’s Family Restaurant.
